Athletics are an integral part of Hephatha Lutheran Church and School’s program.
As a Lutheran school, we desire to teach and encourage Christian conduct and sportsmanship among our student-athletes. In addition, our goal is to encourage participation, while allotting sufficient supervision, practice, and playing time for the members of the squad.
The athletic program is designated to promote healthy participation in sports for boys and girls in grades 5th through 8th. Hephatha is one of 14 schools in the Lutheran Orange County Athletic League (LOCAL). Sportsmanship is expected from all involved, and should always reflect a Christian lifestyle. Hephatha believes that all parents, coaches, and teachers have the responsibility to develop these characteristics in each and every student-athlete.
We have a full athletic field and basketball court on our campus, and offer the following athletic programs:
- Flag Football (Fall for boys, Spring for girls)
- Basketball (Winter for boys, Fall for girls)
- Volleyball (Winter for girls, Spring for boys)
Boys and Girls, 4th—8th:
- Track (Spring)
Hephatha students begin Physical Education (P.E.) in Kindergarten, participate in the Presidential Physical Fitness Program, and have the opportunity to earn physical fitness awards. In addition, our Kindergarten through 4th grade students participate in Hephatha’s annual “Mini Olympics”. We also host two sports camps each year: “Roadrunner Night Lights” sports camp is at the end of each summer for our student-athletes participating in our fall sports program (typically 5th – 8th grades), and “Junior Roadrunners’ Sports Camp” is at the end of each spring for our student-athletes in Kindergarten – 4th grades.
